Joan Kitundu graduated in the Fall of 2024 in Civil Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. With guidance from her professor Jacqueline Masaki and Kittelson staff members Emmanuel Masindoki, Nagui Rouphail, and Wayne Kittelson, she successfully completed a dissertation on calibrating the critical gap and follow-up headways at stop-controlled intersections. Joan submitted a paper that was accepted for presentation at an international meeting of the Transportation Research Board, which was held in Washington, DC in January 2025. With the support of Kittelson Charitable Foundation and many individuals, Joan was able to travel to the conference and present her paper.
